Alternate title: The Story of How We Repeatedly Got Lost in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Itinerary

We had 2 days of stay in Hong Kong and for the first one, we dedicated for Instagram worthy locations I found via social media posts of bloggers/influencers I follow.

I feel like it was an itinerary custom made (by me) for us, so yeah here ya go

Victoria Peak

There are two (if not more) options for a scenic view like this in Hong Kong. The other one was Sky100. Minutes before booking a Sky 100 ticket in Klook, and I decided to research more about it only to find out that I really would prefer a location where I am outdoor, and that's the story of how we ended up in Victoria Peak and all I could say is #noragrets.

Hong Kong, The Peak

They say that this place can get really crowded during 4-7PM (they say it's about a 3 hour wait), so my bestie and I decided to go here first thing in the morning. And at 8AM, we were the first (only) ones there.

Going up in the Peak Tram was a fun ride. Going up to the Sky Terrace for the view was terrifying because it's just an escalator after another escalator AKA we can see how high we are going and add to that is the Hong Kong view at the side πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

The Peak Sky Terrace Escalator

But I would still love to see this view again at night, next time. πŸ‘‹πŸ»

Quarry Bay

If you're going here, the location Quarry Bay is not as accurate. The place to look for is Yick Cheong Building. Our commute route ended with the Quarry Bay line of the MTR. And that's was it. We didn't know where to go next πŸ™„

We ended up going to a 711 (after going in circles) for a 30 minutes free wifi (session is once per day only) to look for the location. 9 minutes of walk later at around 1030AM, we found it!

Quarry Bay, Hong Kong

It was still a little early so there weren't a lot of people when we arrived.

...except when it was our turn to take photos, a line started to show (in front of the person whose photo was being taken), which makes it impossible to be comfortable. Hello social anxiety my old friend πŸ‘‹πŸ»

Good thing this view doesn't need a lot of extra shenanigans. (But I'd really love to show my extra shenanigans here, maybe next time)

Choi Hung Estate

Choi Hung Estate Basketball Court

Again, we only searched for Choi Hung Estate and didn't know where to go after, like finding this estate wasn't hard enough (story: it says we were 5 minutes away so we decided to ride a taxi (too tired already), and we ended up somewhere farther away because the taxi driver didn't understand us when we said the location πŸ’Έ).

We asked locals by showing them screenshots I took of other Instagrammers who already went. An old lady got mad at us for not knowing their language 😭. And then a young local (probably 13-16 yo) who don't speak English, showed us the way by going with us πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›Thanks baby girl πŸ’›

As it turns out, this Instagram famous court is located above a car parking.

We arrived around 1PM. It was a peak time with too many tourists trying to get that perfect shot.

Worth it.

And by 4PM we're back to the place we're staying at for an hour long nap before going to the night market

Hong Kong Commute Tips

  • Wake up early. By 3PM, the MTR rides becomes more of a hassle than they were rest.
  • Klook. To avoid lines. (I see the word tips and I instantly want to share how much Klook helped this trip happen)
  • 711 offers a 30 minutes wifi, but only once a day. Really helpful for emergencies.
  • Most establishments have free wifi also, so whenever we're lost we try to go near a Hotel or a Store or a Cafe.
  • Instead of telling taxi drivers where to go, it'd be a nice alternative to point to a written form of the location so that it's clearer.
  • Our commute route were made using only Google Maps, it even tells you an estimate travel time ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Also, the Google Maps mobile app has a walking option that we can follow when going somewhere nearby (it was buggy during our Hong Kong trip but it definitely worked πŸ’― when we were in Singapore)
  • We can go as extra as find how much each fare costs from http://www.mtr.com.hk/
  • I would've loved it more if I was wearing comfortable shoes πŸ‘ž
