On our first full day in Bangkok, we went out to see temples before we head back to the airport again (for Chiang Mai). We did not book any tours for these and relied only in blogs as usual.
Name | Hours Open | Entrance Fee |
Grand Palace | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM | 500 baht |
Wat Pho | 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM |
100 baht
|
Wat Arun | 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM | 100 baht |
We were out starting 8AM until around 2PM. Despite the short time I didn't feel like we rushed ourselves đđģââī¸.
The only thing to note here is the OOTD đđĨž. Since temples are sacred places, they don't allow short sleeved tops, slippers and above the knee bottoms. There are a lot of places to buy alternatives near the site, some are even for rent only.
Knowing me, I know it would bum me out the whole day if I were forced to wear what doesn't match. (It may or may not have happened when we went to Cebu đ)
Okay this is not a temple, it has so many things inside of it other than a temple.
The architecture was different, it's nothing like anything we have back home. I think every tourist in Thailand goes to see this. So I feel like this is that "You didn't go to Thailand if you didn't visit..." place.
This is the first place we visited so everything is still new to us. I personally loved the mural inside that looks like it's telling a story. I almost loved it too much that I almost wanted something similar when I have my own house đ¤ˇđģââī¸.
This place is a great, except for the other tourists like me. There are a lot of people, in every corner. I can only imagine my stress if we were in a booked tour for this.
Taking photos is a struggle! Even without the crowd I feel like it would've still been hard for me. So we didn't bother that much.
From the Grand Palace, we decided to walk the 1KM distance because the tuktuks are way too expensive for us. When we arrived, there's a lot less tourists so it's already a win.
This one has a lot of Buddhas inside other the the giant reclining Buddha. If I think about it hard enough it would scare me because I get a little terrified with sculptures đ .
I already saw the reclining Buddha in the IG stories of my friends who already went, and yet me and my bestie wasn't prepared for how big it was in real life. We were both in a little shock when we entered the temple.
I would've freaked out if we were the only people there, it's so huge!
We almost skipped this đ đŧââī¸, when it was my favorite out of the three. So we finally caved in to ride a tuktuk and spent around 200-300 baht for transport.
This temple is the smallest we've been to. There's literally only 1 main structure (prang) and 4 others close to it and that's it.
I think this is where we had the most fun. There's space to breathe and we can get creative with this amazing back drop đ¤ŗđŧ.
This is the only one I'd love to go back to!
The artists in those times must've had a lot of fun creating something as colorful and vibrant as these. They did not hesitate! I am glad I got to witness these in this lifetime. Also I have never felt more boring and coward for dreaming of a house surrounded only by white walls đ âĒī¸.
There are a lot of other temples in Thailand. I think these three are the default when tourists go to Bangkok. Next items on my bucket list are those temples up father north in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Soon!
